White Horse NewsWhy I wrote The Trouble with Twilight by Steve WohlbergHere's my story. "Are you willing to write a Harry Potter book for us?" was the earnest question I was asked by a major Christian television ministry nearly six years ago. "We're getting lots of phone calls about it from concerned parents, and we have absolutely nothing on it." After a brief conversation, followed by season of prayer, I agreed. I had no idea what the Lord was about to do. That simple beginning has resulted in a vast amount of research and the publication of seven books about the mystical worlds of witchcraft, spiritualism, and now vampirism. Just a few days ago, I was pondering the big picture:
Get it? In the last thirty years this generation has witnessed the accelerated growth of homosexuality, witchcraft, spiritualism, and now vampirism. Discerning observers should note the trend, and the forces behind it. The last book of the Bible warns,
These apocalyptic predictions teach us two things: 1) Satan and his demons are actively attempting to deceive "the whole world," and 2) They are working with fierce intensity because they realize they have only "a short time" left. Make no mistake about it: Twilight is part of an occult trend. On June 30 Eclipse will strike theaters worldwide. In a nutshell, the storyline is about the evil vampiress Victoria seeking revenge for the death of her lover James, which prompts romantic rivals Edward Cullen and Jacob Black to unite the forces of vampire and werewolf to defeat her, and to protect Bella. On the surface, it's just another thrill-packed, wholesome love story. Right? Wrong. Here's the problem (and this is only one of them): Just as promoting the "good" wizard Harry Potter resulted in surging interest in "good" witchcraft (Wicca) among teens, and just as NBC's Medium showcasing a "good" spiritualist fueled interest in communicating with dead relatives, even so is the stellar popularity of the "good" vampire Edward Cullen and the "good" werewolf Jacob Black now fueling surging interest in real vampirism. If you don't believe me, just Google "teen vampires" and see what you find. I just did it. The first website listed says that it gives... Advice on the problems and issues teen vamps face: school, parents, coping with awakening, how to enter the vampiric community without looking like a fool, and more. Included is this quote: "I am turning 17 in a month, and I find it is very hard to find a donor because people either think that you are some stupid child or that you are too young. Too young? It's not really our choice that we were awakened, especially not at this time when so much is going on. It's yet another thing to add to the list of teenage problems!" - Anonymous Got it? This teen has been "awakened" to being a vampire-and he or she is not alone. May God "awaken" His people to these solemn times. To download for free the first chapter of Steve Wohlberg's
